Even more walks with my camera
Rod has been walking in the
countryside with his camera since the 1970's, mainly in the
Thames Valley, Iceland and in his native Wales. He'll
concentrate on one or two areas, and his talk will be
interesting to photographers and non-photographers alike.

1000 Faces - One Glance Away
The lecture is based on portraits &
instant moments, but it's also about moments caught with a
camera of things that matter to Leigh, the character of
certain people, certain places and something of a personal
philosophy about why he takes pictures. Colour & mono
pictures from India, Georgia, Cuba, Nepal and Turkey plus
some studio work.

Faces & Places
The 'strap line' on the first box of
Ilford FP3 film that Barry purchased in 1959 said for 'Faces
& Places' and for nearly 50 years these have been his
favourite subjects for photography. He likes to return to
his favourite places for taking photographs again & again.
He produces monochrome inkjet prints from negatives and more
recently from digital files.

Did the judge get it right?!
Please bring back some of the images
that you entered into this season’s competition irrespective
of the marks obtained. We will then have a discussion about
what the judge said, whether they were right or whether they
completely missed the point and failed to identify the
purpose that you were trying to portray.

Natural Quarry
David first visited the quarry in the
depths of winter and admits that at first it seemed a most
unlikely place to find much wildlife. However as the year
unfolded he was delighted with the wealth of colourful and
interesting subjects that surrounded him. The most
spectacular birds included nesting peregrines, ravens,
little ringed plovers and wheatears.

The Secret Forest
The lecture is about the New Forest,
in which Tony & Betty have lived and worked for many years.
The 'secret' comes from the fact that most of the images are
of things visitors generally do not see. Images will be of
plants, animals, the changing seasons and the sheer beauty
of a national treasure.

Familiarity Breeds Content
In this ever-changing fast-paced
world there seems to be a constant pressure to move on, to
change, and to think that things are better just over the
horizon. Some photographers continue these thoughts into
their photography, believing that the latest lens or camera,
new technique, or next location will always yield better
pictures. But this is not always so. Within this lecture
Chris discusses the pleasure and benefits he gets from
building up a familiarity with a subject and location and
will show you the images that have resulted from his deeper
knowledge of the locale.

Why do I take pictures?
The talk is a review of the type of
pictures Adrian has been taking over the last 40 years. The
early prints contain a mix of mono and colour, with quite a
number of derivatives. Adrian will cover a lot of subjects,
as well as techniques, he likes to get those in the audience
to consider why they take pictures, which is why there is
also a simple tick box questionnaire.
